SG Justin Piece (Glenbard West)
The William & Mary commit was on the spring stock risers, summer stock risers, why not the winter stock risers? This 6’6” shooting guard has been on a tear all season with his team. Leading them to a tremendous record while putting up spectacular scoring and rebounding numbers on a nightly basis. Pierce is a wing that can score at all three levels and will be a future all-conference player at William & Mary.
SG Skyler Nash (Riverside Brookfield)
Nash has overcome so much in the last year. He fought through a tough summer where at one point he was fighting for his life with a serious medical issue. Nash transferred from Whitney Young to Riverside Brookfield for his senior year. It is all starting to click again and he is becoming the player that we thought he could be. At 6’5” he has a strong build and big time athleticism. Nash is great in the open floor as a finisher and has improved greatly on his perimeter shoot. At the end of the day he is a great kid too! Low-major programs need to take a long look at him.
SG George Wilborn (De La Salle)
Wilborn was a player that has never really wowed us in the past, but has had a monster senior campaign! He has a nice combination of strength, quickness, and athleticism which allows him to consistently win off the bounce getting to the hoop where he has a good feel finishing through contact. Clean looking jumper with elevation and can hit a three every now and then. Wilborn is an effective offensive rebounder that crashes for second chance opportunities. He accelerates with the ball in his hands and is a quality transition player pushing it past his opponents.
SG Jamal Burton (Morgan Park)
Burton has always been known as a tough defender and energy guy. The 6’3” wing continues to do that. He is a monster wing defender getting deflections and steals on a consistent basis. The unsigned senior is a tenacious rebounder as well hitting the glass on both ends at a high rate. Plays above the rim with plus athleticism including catching alley-oop passes. The most impressive development in his game early in season has been showing improvement on his jumper. Burton has not been a particularly effective shooter throughout his career. He looked more comfortable hitting the 18 foot shot and even stepped out to drill some threes. If he can add this to his game consistently he should be on the low-major radar.
SF Kevin Krieger (Plainfield North)
Krieger is a 6’6” small forward that has good size and athleticism for the position. He is a plus perimeter shooter that can knock down pull up jumpers from mid-range. Good feel for when to take his shot and when to give it up. He is more athletic than I remembered from the summer as he had several blocks and dunks on back cuts when we have seen him this season. Low-major/D2 kid.
SG Jeremiah Matthews (Crete Monee)
The Crete senior has been known as a bit of a streaky shooter, but when he is on the kid is FIRE from deep. We saw him put on a show for the ages this season when he dropped 38 points in a win. The 6’2” lefty is a spot up shooter. Anytime he gets the slightest bit of space the ball is in the air. Also shows some ability off the bounce with quick change of direction in the lane hitting runners and layups. Small colleges in need of a shooter this would be a great option!
