Datrion Harper
5’10 – PG – 2017
Harper really struggled with Pike’s guards and their pressure tonight. He didn’t get a ton of help and he was the best of the bunch in terms of ball handlers. I think that threw him off because he couldn’t get much going offensively. Pike’s big men caused some problems down low with their length and that effected everyone. Harper is kind of the guy this year for Ben Davis and when he goes, the team goes.
Josh Brewer
6’5 – SF – 2017
Brewer is still in that area of his development where he is going to have to take that next step or not. He’s a great looking prospect with size and athelticism and a growing skill set. He’s been more productive shooting the ball as of late. Can get a little carried away shooting but that is a problem for another day. He’s got to try and put it all together now, his shooting and his driving/scoring at the rim. He’s got enough skill to make that leap, just has to do it.
Aaron Henry
6’5 – SF – 2018
Henry struggled in this one. The one thing I did like was how he was going about trying to score. He’s gotten a lot better at shooting, although tonight nothing was falling for him. That improvement has allowed him to do more off the bounce. Was looking to shoot from deep, create in the mid-range and play in the open floor. Tough night but still showing growth as a player.
Naeem Freeman
6’5 – PF – 2016
Freeman was pretty good tonight. Solidly built post forward with some athleticism. He’s not been too great away from the rim but give him a little time in the post and he can get you some points. He’s a decent rebounder who could improve by anticipating the rebound a little more. Could do well at a JUCO where he can learn to add more dimensions to his game.
Indianapolis Pike:
Justin Roberts
5’11 – PG – 2017
Roberts continues to do what he does. Hard to see any development because he is pretty consistent and everything he scores on in the high school season is at the rim and easy buckets. Only hit one three in this game. With that said, he is a really good finisher at the rim and knows how to beat the defender to the rim. Has to improve his jump shot for the next step of his development.
Justin Thomas
6’0 – PG – 2016
Pretty typical game from Justin Thomas. He’s undervalued to this point but has gotten a little more DI interest lately. Aggressive as always. Thomas is really solid in the open floor as a defender and perimeter shooter. He does well paired up with Roberts and that might be something to watch for in college as he might end up playing off the ball at times.
Darian Porch
6’4 – SF – 2018
This kid could be really good, really soon. He’s aggressive for his age and has a body that could be great in a year or two. He’s every bit of 6’4 and has strength to play with right now. Has a little bounce in his game and is a solid rebounder who knows how to finish off of them. His upside is really high and a big summer could be in store.
Derek Hawthorne
6’2 – SG – 2016
Hawthorne has gone a little too far under the radar. He’s a really talented scoring guard with size and toughness. He can shoot it pretty well and did great tonight creating defensive pressure on Ben Davis’ wings. He can fit in at a lot of colleges and would be okay seeing him play at a DII program in the GLVC. If he played on a team with more of a structured offense, he would put up considerably bigger numbers.
Isiah James
6’5 – PF – 2017
James had a very impressive game. The undersized forward is about a perfect a fit for a high school big man as you can get. Big enough for guard to struggle guarding him and athletic and tough enough to defend bigger guys if he gets that matchup. Adept at finishing around the rim because of his agility and athleticism. Really been impressed with his rebounding. Fighting for each one and getting them in bunches.
