2 Jay Small, 24.6 PPG
Small is the only player in 2A with a Division I offer (South Dakota), and he still has a whole summer on the grassroots circuit with Omaha Elite to earn more.
3 Will Mertens, 24.2 PPG
The Van Buren Community senior leads his team in not only scoring, but steals, blocks, assists, and rebounds (13.7).
4 Jackson Johnson, 24.0 PPG
Johnson has was good for Manson Northwest Webster last season, but this season he’s been sensational. He’s averaging a double-double this season through seven games, adding 10.6 rebounds to his high scoring clip.
5 Makonn Anderson, 23.3 PPG
The Shenendoah post has been not only a scoring threat, but a highly efficient scoring threat. He’s shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc, and 51 percent from the floor. He’s also averaging 10.7 rebounds per game.
6 Brady Elder, 23.2 PPG
The only junior on this list, Elder has Pleasantville off to a 4-2 start, and still has plenty of time to make his mark on the Iowa high school hoops scene.
7 Jaylan White, 22.3 PPG
An Iowa Mr. Basketball candidate, White (through four games) is up to his usual onslaught against opponents. In addition to his high scoring, the 5-foot-10 point guard is averaging 9.3 assists, and 5.8 steals per game. And he’s shooting 67 percent from the floor.
8 Lee Curan, 22.0 PPG
Through the first four games of the season, the Albia standout is not just scoring the ball well, but he’s shooting it well too – 51 FG%, 39 3FG%, and 86 FT%.
9 Devin Green, 21.6 PPG
It’s his third year starring with the Cascade, and he’s saving his best for last. The 6-foot-6 Sioux Falls (D2) commit has his team off to a 7-0 start. He’s shooting 66 percent from the field, and nabbing 8’4 rebounds per game.
10 Logan Gilman, 21.4 PPG
A Grand View commit, Gilman was sensational last summer with Iowa Battlers, and his evolution last offseason is paying dividends for PCM, which is off to a 6-2 start.
