Georgia’s July Live Period Watch Pt. 1
Atlanta, GA – The July live period is officially here and approaching in the next week or so. With June now being over and high school summer camps and/or workouts being done with for now, it is time to get back in the swing with AAU basketball. Georgia has a pletheroa of talented prospects to keep an eye on during the July live period this summer. Below you can check out just a few names to keep an eye on during this July live period.
2020 point guard KD Johnson – Southwest Dekalb High school / Game Elite 16U
Here is a name college coaches should contact as soon as possible before it is too late. KD did not have a great or standout type spring with the Georgia Stars or Game Elite but he is sure in for a great July and upcoming high school season. The 6’1 point guard has developed tremendously over the last several months. He is a pitbull defender that will be the first to set the tone for his team. He has improved in his point guard and guard skills on offense and will be one of Georgia’s top prospects in my eyes in this upcoming high school season regardless of class. KD will be running with Game Elite 16U this July live period. Game Elite will be playing in the Battle of GA (Emerson, GA July 8th), Peach State Invitational (Augusta, GA July 11-15th), Adidas Championships (Irvine, CA July 18th-22), and the Fab 48 (Las Vegas, NV July 25-29th)
2020 wing Eugene Brown – Southwest Dekalb High School / AOT 16U
Like his high school teammate KD Johnson, Eugene Brown has also boosted his stock this summer and has developed into a great playmaker. Eugene recently earned offers from Presbyterian, Middle Tennessee, and James Madison. The rising junior is a lengthy guard/wing that is able to knock down perimeter jump shots and spread the defense. Brown has improved his body physically since the end of his high school season which helps him on both ends of the floor. Eugene has turned into an intriguing prospect and will be running with Nike’s Athlete’s of Tomorrow 16U squad.
2019 guard Chase Hunter – Westlake High School / Atlanta Express
One of the most improved players over the years in the state of Georgia has been Chase Hunter of Westlake High School. Without question, Chase has had a rising spring this AAU season while earning offers already from VCU, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Texas Tech and recently took an unofficial visit to Depaul. He is an elite combo guard who is always looking to score. He has a great body frame and is a very strong and athletic guard. Chase is expected to have a great senior season for this upcoming high school campaign and will be running with the UAA Atlanta Express this July live period.
2019 forward Jaylin Williams – Brantley County High School / Game Elite Gold
Jaylin Williams out of Brantley County High School should be in conversation for Mr. Georgia Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year for Georiga in this upcoming high school season. Williams had an incredible junior season and spring where I believed he opened several scouts and evaluators eyes. He is one the rare off ball versatile wings/forwards we are able to witness. Jaylin can score inside the paint and also show us his range from beyond the arc. He is bouncy and has fantastic athleticism. He holds offers from multiple D1 schools such as Louisville, Tennessee, GA Tech, Kansas State, UNLV, Florida, Memphis, and recently a UCONN offer. Williams will be running with Game Elite Gold this month.
2020 point guard Sharife Cooper – McEachern High School / AOT 17U
The buzz and the hype on the rising junior Sharife Cooper has been and is very real. After a breakout spring in the Nike EYBL, Sharife Cooper has now been nationally ranked according to ESPN. He is currently the #30 prospect in the class of 2020 according to ESPN. The 6’1 point guard will be going into the Nike Peach Jam averaging 20.9 points per game while averaging 6.7 assist per game, which leads the Nike EYBL. He is an elite facilitator and can change speeds in a blink of an eye. Sharife has now developed a consistent jump shot which now makes him a scoring option for his team. He can make his way inside the opponents paint with ease and has Rajon Rondo like vision. Cooper will be looking to lead his AOT squad back into the Nike Peach Jam title game this July.
