Prospect Intro: Trevon Harris (2020)
John Hardin made the trip to the Sweet Sixteen in March but Mickey Pearson and Malik Wright are off to college and there is a considerable amount of scoring and rebounding to replace. Enter Junior Trevon Harris. Harris was a starter and role player as a Sophomore but is going to be counted on to play a much larger role for the next two seasons. Trevon is spending his AAU season developing his game and trying to improve his jump shooting. Coach Jared McCurry has high hopes for Trevon, “Trevon is long, athletic and getting bigger physically all the time. He can do it all. Trevon is a very good ball handler that can not only create offense for himself but also for others. His confidence in his abilities is showing more and more. We will ask Trevon to be our best defensive player next season while also contributing on the offensive end at a high level. He has a chance to be one of the best two way players in the region next season.”
As a sophomore, Harris played a smaller role on the 5th region championship team. Trevon told me, “It was a good season. We made it to Rupp and my teammates liked the effort I put in when I was on the court.” Trevon is also enjoying a good AAU season as part of the Kentucky Defenders team that won the 16u AAU state championship and that Defenders team will travel to Orlando this month to compete for a national championship. While Harris has yet to draw any college interest, he is looking forward to carrying his aggressiveness and scoring ability over to his high school season and hopes that he can help lead John Hardin back to Rupp Arena for the Sweet Sixteen in March. Trevon continues to grow physically and if his abilities can continue improving, he will find a home on a college roster after he gets through his high school career at John Hardin. Harris has a very high ceiling as a player and prospect and its up to him to reach it. If he can maximize his potential, Trevon Harris could end up one of the top players in Kentucky’s 2020 class.
