2021 Top Performers : Sizzlin Summer Shootout
Prep Hoops drove the 5 hours up to Greenville to cover the Sizzlin Summer Shootout at Greenville HS. Lets take a look at some of the 2021 Top Performers from the day in Greenville. The 2021 Class in the Palmetto State looks very promising especially in the Upstate.
Jaquarious “JQ” Jones – Greenville HS (pictured on front)
Jones is a absolute mismatch on the floor. Prep Hoops saw Jones last weekend at the University of South Carolina Team Camp and again on Wednesday. Jones has a great skill set and has the ability to play multiple positions on the floor. Jones is very nimble on his feet and a very deceptive athlete.
Jones used a head fake move around the basket to score at will. Jones averaged 9 ppg and 7 rebounds this past season for the Red Raiders. Jones wears a size 15 shoe already and just likes to bully opponents in the paint at times. Jones will play this July with Team South Carolina on the AAU Circuit.
Nick Williams – Greenville Tech
Williams was on fire all day for the Warriors. Teammate Jalen Breazeale was not in attendance today for the Warriors so Williams picked up the slack. Williams slashed to the rack with ease and knocked down several jumpers on the perimeter. Williams plays with Game Elite on the AAU Circuit.
James Cooper – Greenville Tech
Cooper was on fire from downtown today. Cooper connected on 6 three pointers in the game we took in from Summer Sizzlin Shootout. Coper was a catch-shoot shooting guard for the Warriors.
Josh Owens – Wren HS (Piedmont)
Owens played the passing lanes very well today for the Hurricanes. Owens rebounded the ball on both ends and had very few touches in the paint. Owens plays with Team South Carolina on the AAU Circuit.
Bryce McGowens – Wren HS (Piedmont) – Was not here today
Sharp shooting guard McGowens was not in attendance as he was on a family vacation according to Head Coach Fran Campbell. McGowens will play this July period with Upward Stars Southeast. McGowens averaged 18.3 ppg last season for the Hurricanes.
Jemarkus Boozer – Berea HS
Boozer had a great stroke from behind the arch. Boozer a lengthy guard has a slender-sleek frame. Boozer was called up late in the season last year. Boozer seemed very poised and mature for his age on the floor for the Bulldogs. Boozer plays with a local AAU team out of the Upstate the South Carolina Blazers he told Prep Hoops.
Jaleel Skinner (2022) – Greer HS
Skiiner 6’5 is a incoming freshman for Greer HS. Prep Hoops first saw Skinner back in April at the Ashton Arnold Memorial Tourney with JE Elite and Head coach Lamont Simmons. Skinner attended Riverside M.S. last year. Skinner has over a 7’0 wingspan and is suppose to be a big-time football receiver.
