Underclassmen : Camp of Champs
Prep Hoops took in the action on Monday at the Camp of Champs at the Upward Stars Center in Spartanburg. Lets take a look at some of the top underclassmen in the event.
Myles Tate (2020) and P.J. Hall (2020) both recently received offers from the University of South Carolina. Tate ranked #1 in the Prep Hoops 2020 Palmetto State Rankings and Hall #4 played Asheville Christian (NC) in the game we took in on Monday. Tate really has the ability to finish well at the cup especially with his left-hand and always has a nice mid-range pull-up jumper.
Hall 6’8 has a great skill set and always seems to keep getting better on a daily basis. This duo along with some other talent might have the Cavaliers in line for a 3-Peat next March in Columbia.
Jacobi Wright (2021) and Keyan Mims (2020) are together once again this time at Fort Mill HS. The duo transferred in this off season from nearby York Prep. Wright a point guard is ranked #2 in the 2021 Palmetto State Rankings right behind John Butler. Wright a crafty point guard has great court vision and can really get into the gaps. Wright plays AAU with Team CP3.
Mims 6’5 showed a lot of skill today handling the rock in the front court along with shooting it on the perimeter. Mims and Wright give the Yellow Jackets a strong combo to deal with this season in the Upstate.
Emorie Knox (2020) brought his Myrtle Beach HS team to the Upstate and walked away with a (5-2) record for the camp. Knox a crafty point guard seems to get better and better with each time out on the floor. Knox could possibly be the quickest guard in the Palmetto State from end to end. Knox , Tate and Hall all play together on Upward Stars Southeast 2020.
Jameson Tucker (2021) had a good showing for the Mauldin HS Mavericks. Tucker was a late season call up last year for the playoffs. Tucker has really good length and showed the ability to knockdown shots on the perimeter. Tucker has great elevation on his shot.
Banks Atkins (2021) seemed to be a one-trick pony for the Chapman HS Panthers. Atkins 5’10 connected on 7 three pointers in the game Prep Hoops watched him play. Atkins plays AAU with a local team Spartanburg Thunder.
Andrew Butler (2022) is the brother of Rashamel and Devin Butler at Ridgeland-Hardeeville. Butler could turn out to be better than both of his brothers according to the coaching staff.
