Recruiting Report: Otis Frazier (2019)
As we continue to look at the recruitment of the top prospects from Buckeye High School, one of the top teams in the state as well as 4A, we land on Otis Frazier.
Frazier is one of the most versatile prospects in the state. At 6’5, the 2019 prospect can play 1-3. He is an instant impact prospect who does all the little things necessary to win games.
He is a high riser who can play above the rim and scores well from all 3 levels. Also, he is a consistent shooter from deep who slashes well in addition to being willing to move without the basketball to get easy buckets.
Defensively, Frazier is capable of being an elite on ball defender. Further, he brings good length in help side. Frazier’s stock has risen greatly and will continue to swing upward.
Otis Frazier: College Interest
Frazier played extremely well in one of the best seasons that Buckeye has had. Further, he has had a strong showing for Powerhouse as well. In lieu of his strong play, he has earned offers from “Northern Colorado and Drexel.”
In addition to receiving new offers, he has received interest from “Butler, Purdue, Pepperdine, Montana State, UC Irvine, HBU, UTRGV, and Santa Clara.”
The last time that we interviewed Frazier, he did not have any offers. However, that is no longer the case and it is likely that he will gain more offers as well. When it comes time to make the final decision as far as where he will go to school, he stated he is looking for a “coaching staff that I can be comfortable with like family and coaches that will always try to make me a better player.”
Otis Frazier: College Projection
Around this time last year, I projected that Frazier was best suited at a high NCAA Division-II or NAIA. That is no longer the case as Frazier has continued to improve his game and has elite athleticism as well as good length.
Frazier is without a doubt a low to mid-NCAA Division-I prospect. He brings whichever team he chooses an long wing who can shoot it and play an array of positions. Further, he mentioned that he brings the teams “energy, scoring ability, perimeter defense, and leadership.”
As far as areas to improve, he noted, “Everything can always be better,” he continued, “I would have to get stronger for sure and quicker to match the speed at the next level.”
Frazier’s ceiling is extremely high. Unlike a lot of prospects who have potential, Frazier continues to get better and turn that potential into skill. Continue to watch Frazier as he is a legitimate 4A MVP candidate and could be a key component to Buckeye hoisting a state championship.
