Prospect Profile: Drew Carter (2021 Tigard HS/Rose City Rebels 15U)
Drew Carter may be a young man of few words. The bottom line is the athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard lets his game on the court do all the talking. The rising sophomore from Tigard High School is currently working with his high school team this month, but in July he rejoins his AAU team, the Rose City Rebels 15U squad.
“I’m having fun with the team – it’s a great group of guys and a great group of coaches,” Carter said. “My three point shot is going good and my passing. I’m working on my ball-handling, shooting, everything – I’m just trying to get better overall.”
Carter played with the Rebels 15U squad on the EYBL circuit in April. Watching him play with his Tigard team, he has displayed many of the same skills – a smooth stroke from the perimeter – both from the catch and shoot and off the bounce, a willingness to play tough defense, and an overall feel for the game where he lets things come to him rather than forcing the issue.
Also the starting quarterback on the football team who has garnered some Elite camp invites, Carter is an outstanding all-around athlete who should have some options when it comes to college. He’s wide open when it comes to what sport(s) he will pursue, much less where he’ll play. “I’m not sure yet, I’m totally open,” Carter said. “I just want to make it to the next level.”
When it comes to hoops, Carter knows it will take to reach his goals – and that’s what his focus will be on the rest of this summer. “I’m just working hard, every game trying my hardest,” he said.
