Recruiting Report: Kato Seley (2019)
Champlin Park’s fourth leading scorer and top rebounder last year was Kato Seley. The 6-foot-4 wing is excited for his senior year because the Rebels will be a factor once again.
The Rebels senior class has Seley, Bennett Otto, Jacob Johnson, and Alex John leading the way giving the Rebels pieces at several spots. The junior group has players that have been fantastic this 16u season in Juwan Grant, Jared Walter, and Cooper Olson. The talent is there to be a top ten level talent again and to make a state run.
Seley spoke with NHR today about his team next season. “We have mostly every one returning besides Josiah and Carlston, but even with the loss of are former captains we still expect to be making a state run come March,” Seley said.
“For my senior campaign I hope to improve both on and off the court as a leader and a teammate. I want to improve and put my team in the best position to win every game”
Kato has been doing a lot of that with 44 Elite this winter competing on the Adidas Silver circuit and playing in some local events.
“Some of my top moments this summer were really just feeling my confidence level go to a all time high,” Kato said. “Me and my 17u team 44 elite, we hope to have a strong July, we hope to win and get more looks from colleges but we also want to get better.”
Murray State and Navy invited Seley to their elite camps this summer and they are among the teams that Kato has spoke with.
“The schools that have shown interest in me thus far are schools like Old Dominion, Wofford, Murray State, and South Dakota and a few more. I don’t have any unofficial visits planned yet but I do plan on attending the Men’s Navy basketball camp next week and the Old Dominion camp in August.”
