Recruiting Report: 2019 Drake London
When kids are at a young age they dream of playing a college sport at the division one level. According to 2019, Drake London, of Moorpark High School in Moorpark, California his dream is to play both division one basketball and football.
“Right now I am 80 percent on playing both college basketball and football.”
We talked to him at NBPA Top 100 Camp which brings in some of the best high basketball players in the country.
“”The level of competition at this camp is exactly what I need. This is a camp that can make all of the top players in the country better.”
This camp comes during a busy late spring and early summer, “The spring and summer has been hectic between basketball and football. I have been trying to balance them and rest my body.”
When asked what schools are recruiting him for both sports, he said, “Southern California, UVA, Oregon, Arizona and Wisconsin.”
NBPA Top 100 Camp is hosted on the campus of the University of Virginia and London told us he is actually going to stay on campus and take an unofficial visit on Monday.
“I will be taking an unofficial visit to UVA on Monday, Coach Bennett is known for making players and improving players defensively but he is also just a genuine guy, he is trustworthy and really down to earth. They just had one of the best regular seasons in history.”
Southern California is close to home for London and they seem to be extremely interested in him, “They are recruiting for both football and basketball. I really like the atmosphere there, it has a good family atmosphere and everybody is driven to get better there.”
Another Pac 12 school that is keeping close tabs on him is Arizona and he spoke about the Wildcats, ““I have been talking to the coaches there for a while, they are just one of the schools that is recruiting me hard and they are interested in me playing both sports there.”
Drake has a good relationship with the Oregon football coaching staff and he is starting to learn about the basketball program a little more now, “Just another school that is interested in me in both football and basketball and I have a good relationship with the coaches there on the football side and I am starting to get to know them better on the basketball side.”
Wisconsin is the most recent school to get on board with London playing both football and basketball, “I just got on board with them for football and basketball, so I am kind of getting to know them a little better.”
After the UVA visit he is not sure when he will be able to make another visit, “To be honest I really dont know just because my schedule is hectic so that is pretty much undecided but I am forsure visiting USC and probably Oregon.”
When on those unofficial visits he knows what he will be looking for, “First off, of course academics. After that then it is the fit in the program and looking like if I got injured in a school would I still want to go there and just still be in the program and involved in that atmosphere.”
