NorCal Post Prospects in 2020
Hers is a look at some post prospects in Nor Cal in the class of 2020 who have distinguished themselves as legit D1 prospects.
6’10 PF/SF Coleman Hawkins of Antelope HS, Antelope, CA
Hawkins is a long and fairly athletic combo forward. He has a slender build and must develop bulk/strength to prepare for the next level. He’s ok ball handler who is comfortable facing the basket. He can pass it and does a decent job of finding the open man when the defense commits to him. He moves ok with the ball in the half court and shoots it ok with long 3-point range. He’s a capable driver who probably needs to absorb contact better. He can help himself by developing a more consistent post up game. He can rebound and has the ability to get to balls outside of his box due to his length and athleticism. Hawkins has a nice upside and he is a mid plus/high minus level prospect.
6’9 PF/C Kendall Munson of Capital Christian HS, Sacramento, CA
Munson has had some tough luck as he missed the entire 2017-2018 season due to an injury. But is back healthy and it is easy to see he belongs on the high-level radar. He’s an ok athlete with a strong body. He handles it a little and can pass and has a solid one-bounce drive in the short-range area. He can post up and is hard to guard on the block. He’s a solid rebounder who outlets it well. If he is healthy Munson is a high major prospect with excellent potential.
6’8 C Dishon Jackson of St Patrick-St Vincent HS, Vallejo, CA
Jackson has been a steady riser on the recruiting radar and it is safe to say he has “arrived” at this point. He’s an ok athlete who runs fairly well. He is a difficult matchup matchup because he can score in multiple ways: He has a short-range drive and a mini jump hook and he shoots it ok mid range. He is a fairly good rebounder and he can block shots. Jackson is continuing to make progress and is a high minus prospect with confirmed high-major offers.
6’10 C Jhaylon Martinez of Vanden HS, Fairfield, CA
Martinez has done a nice job establishing himself a solid recruit at the Division I level. He’s an average athlete with fairly long arms, goods hands and big feet. He can bounce the ball little and can pass it out of a double team. He dribble operates on the block ok and has post up skills. He needs to finish better in traffic. He can rebound and start the break with the outlet. Martinez is a probable mid major prospect.
