SLUH Team Shootout (Sunday Standouts)
Prep Hoops Missouri was in attendance at Saint Louis University High on Sunday afternoon for its high school shootout. Here is a look at some of the top standouts from Sunday’s action:
Elijah Hicks 6’3″ Jennings ’19: A powerful wing player who creates serious matchup problems with his physical strength and versatile skill set. One moment, he posting up smaller guards and getting buckets and drawing fouls. The next moment, he’s out top with the ball creating shots off the dribble and getting to the basket with power drives. He will also knock down an open 3-pointer. He is always on the attack.
Lamontay Daughtery 6’7″ Mehlville ’20: One of the best offensive players in the 2020 class, he has scoring ability from all three levels. He displayed a nice post game, including a feathery turnaround jumper in the lane. He can turn and face and hit the mid-range jumper, plus he has 3-point range. He knocked down a last-second triple to beat McCluer in a very exciting game. A definite mid-major prospect at least.
Dareon Graham 6’4′ McCluer ’19: The smooth wing player was one of the top perimeter shooters I saw during the day. In a hotly contested game against Mehlville, he knocked down five 3-pointers in the first half. When defenders close out on him, he’s not afraid to put it on the floor and get to the basket. He is poised for a big senior year.
Elijah Bishop 6’6″ Soldan ’20: The big-bodied power forward has some of the best fundamental post moves around. He can really seal his man, catch it and scored with a variety of moves. He has been that way since his freshman year. I also like how he is looking to expand his game. He is becoming a reliable 3-point shooter off the pick and pop.
Jaylen Boyd 6’0″ Ladue ’20: A crafty point guard with a very high basketball IQ, Jaylen does a nice job of changing speeds and directions and keeping defenders off balance. He has really improved his 3-point stroke, which adds a new dimension to his game. His athleticism has also really improved as he threw down a couple of impressive dunks in transition, plus he had a few big chase down blocks.
Tajah Stewart 6’3″ Waynesville ’19: A powerful wing player who is tough to stop when he gets a full head of steam going to the basket. He complimented those rim attacks with some timely 3-point shooting, which made him difficult to defend. He is also very unselfish, always looking for an open teammate.
