KAMO Shootout: Sunday Stock Risers
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Hosted by Shawnee Mission East, the annual KaMo Shootout has earned a reputation as one of the midwest’s premier summer events for high school teams.
This event tipped off on Friday and wrapped up on Sunday with championship brackets being played. Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the events top performers on Saturday.
25 — Anthony Brown, 6’4, G, 2019, Olathe North (Kan.)
Brown showed this weekend he is a knock down shooter as he brings good size to the court and the ability to stretch a defense. He has a short, compact shooting stroke and doesn’t need a lot of space to get his shot away.
24 — Tyce Hoover, 6’4, G, 2020, Manhattan (Kan.)
Really moves well without the ball, setting up opposing defenders with back cuts and off the ball action. Likes to get on the defensive glass and showed over the weekend he can be a reliable rebounder and defender. Hoover is a good finisher around the basket and in the paint where he scored most of his points in the action we watched.
3-Greg Riddle Jr, 5’10, PG, 2019, Blue Valley West (Kan.)
Riddle Jr. is a fast point guard who can find his shot from deep with little room to breathe. He’s one of the shortest players on his team, but he knows how to move off the ball, create separation, and avoid problem areas on the floor. A solid guard for his team that will have the ball a lot when the clock is winding down.
Dale Talley, 6’4, G, 2019, Shawnee Mission Northwest (Kan.)
Talley is a well-rounded offensive player with good size and the ability to do a little bit of everything well. He handled the ball a lot for Northwest, can get to the basket and showed a high arcing outside shot from the perimeter.
11- Caden Vanlandingham, 5’10, PG, 2019, Trinity (Kan.)
Vanlandingham likes to attack off the dribble at an angle. He’s a slasher who breaks one way and can stop on a dime for a smooth jumper. He can find his way around the court and is good at passing out and getting his wing 3-point shot off. He applies good pressure on defense and can be seen going for the steal if opponents get sloppy.
