Prospect Spotlight: Gabe Johnson (2019)
There has been a lot of basketball talent on display this spring. Gabe Johnson is a player that has garnered attention for his performance. The class of 2019 standout is a 6’3 small forward. Johnson is playing AAU basketball with O.W.E. Hoops and attends South Bend Riley High School.
Gabe JohnsonJohnson has shown an impressive skill set during the AAU season. He’s a versatile player on the defensive end. Johnson can defend in the post and on the perimeter, and is strong in both capacities. His versatility can be seen offensively as well. Johnson can score both inside and out. He’s at his best attacking the basket and finishing around the rim. Johnson is currently working to become more consistent with his jumpshot.
Gabe Johnson is the type of team first athlete and person that is valuable to a roster. He places a high priority on having fun and bonding with his teammates on and off the court. Johnson is looking forward to his playing in the All In Classic in Louisville this summer. He is a well rounded individual with an interest in Ethnic Studies and Youth Motivational Speaking.
Johnson will be an excellent addition to a college basketball program. He will bring a high motor player to whatever school he ends up at. A college coach will get a player who strives everyday to be a great teammate. Johnson is currently being recruited by Bethel College (Mishawaka, IN) and Goshen College.
Gabe Johnson is driven by his goals. Off the court, he wants to become a Diversity and Inclusion Specialist. On the court, Johnson wants to win a state championship. He is extremely motivated to achieve these goals: “My greatest motivation to be successful is my family. They’ve sacrificed so much for my well being and it is my goal to be able to repay them for all they’ve done for me. I live my life by the Bible verse “To whom much is given, much is required” -Luke 12:48. That bible verse is very motivational to me because I feel as though I’ve been given a lot so I have work hard every time I have the opportunity to.”
