2019 : Sumter County Seniors
Prep Hoops takes a look at the top seniors in Sumter County this coming season. Sumter County features Crestwood HS, Lakewood HS and Sumter HS. The Sumter HS Gamecocks and Head coach Shawn Jones will be top dogs this season in the city. The Gamecocks have moved into a new region with many Columbia area teams.
Calvin “CJ” Felder – Sumter HS (pictured on front)
Felder is ranked #6 in the latest Prep Hoops 2019 Palmetto State class. Felder a ultra athletic forward has received plenty of interest in the past year. Georgia Tech, Clemson, UNLV, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Marquette, Murray State, Ole Miss, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt all have shown interest Felder this year.
Felder plays with Upward Stars Southeast 2019 on the AAU Circuit. Upward Stars Southeast 2019 qualified for the Adidas Gauntlet in New York City this coming July.
Juwan Perdue – Lakewood HS
Perdue will look to lead the new look Gators this coming season. Perdue 6’6 ia ranked #26 in the Prep Hoops 2019 Palmetto State class. Perdue a left-handed forward has played with Team Loaded North Carolina and the South Carolina Ballers this past spring on the AAU circuit.
Perdue averaged 10.9 ppg and 8 rebounds this past season. Perdue holds a offer from South Carolina State University.
Omar Croskey – Sumter HS
Croskey had a solid spring playing with Upward Stars Columbia and Head Coach Christian Savage. Croskey 6’5 left-handed small forward can really knock down shots on the perimeter. Croskey should see plenty of playing time this season for the Gamecocks with the graduation of Isaih Moore (College of Charleston).
Kwaleek Jones – Crestwood HS
Jones 6’4 small forward really likes the ball in his hands. Jones needs to be more consistent on the floor with play and effort at times. The Knights really struggled last season and didn’t make the postseason.
Nazir Andino – Crestwood HS
Andino a undersized off guard transferred over to Crestwood HS from Laurence Manning Academy last season. Andino is a very streaky shooter at times on the floor. Andino has he ability to knock down several shots when he’s on.
Jalen Johnson – Sumter HS
Johnson will look to get major minutes this season for the Gamecocks. Johnson played this spring with Upward Stars Columbia squad. Johnson is a great effort guy on the floor and has good length. Johnson always seems to be around the ball.
