DRURY ELITE CAMP: A look at several standouts
SPRINGFIELD — Drury University held its first men’s basketball Elite Camp on Saturday and the event featured several of southwest Missouri’s premier players, including several players who currently hold an offer or are drawing attention from the Panthers’ coaching staff.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several players who stood out at the event in the older age groups.
309 — Isaac Ash, 6’1, G, 2019, California (Mo.)
A good outside shooter who isn’t afraid of taking the ball to the basket and into a crowd. He’s a solid, all-around guard who finds a way to get the job done.
329 — Shawn Hendershot, 6’3, G, 2020, Blue Valley North (Kan.)
Hendershot showed some well-rounded skills as well as some decent size for a guard/wing player. He knocked down several outside shots in the competition portion of the event and was a creative ball handler and scorer. He’s an intriguing prospect going forward as he combines good size and a well-rounded skill set.
336 — Kyler Hensley, 6’6, F, Clinton (Ark.)
Hensler has good size at 6’6 and mobility as he brings a long, rangy frame to the court and combines it with a good, all-around skill set. He Can shoot it a little from the outside, has a nice game in the high post and mid range and can put the ball on the floor a little.
304 — Cade McGaugh, 6’3, G, 2019, Maize (Kan.)
McGaugh is putting together a strong spring competing with Epps Elite and on Saturday he showed the ability to create off the bounce and knock down open shots. He has decent size and the ability to handle the ball.
328 — Hayden Thomas, 6’2, G, 2019, Twin Rivers (Mo.)
Thomas had some good moments shooting the ball on Saturday and showed the ability to make plays off the dribble, getting to the basket and finding the open man. He also has a nice mid-range game, able to pull-up off the dribble.
307 — AJ White, 6’4, F, 2019, Rockhurst (Mo.)
White has put together a strong spring competing for the KC Spurs and is one of several players in their program that has earned an opportunity to play at the next level. He is a strong, physical player with good hops, nimble feet and a bog motor. He combines those physical attributes with an emerging skill set that includes a 3-point shot and the ability to handle the ball a little and create some offense for himself. He showed at Drury on Saturday all those skills and was arguably the best player at the event.
