Top 2020 Post Prospects
Who are the best of the best when it comes to the big men in the 2020 class? Here are where they stand heading into July!
Seryee Lewis (Kenwood)
Current Ranking: #9
Travel Team: Young & Reckless
At 6’7” he has size and athleticism. He became the top post prospect in the state as his motor went up as did his production. Lewis has a quick second jump which allows him to be a major presence on the offensive glass. He is assertive on the boards crashing the glass with more aggression than we had seen on both ends of the floor when we saw him this spring. Lewis makes quick post moves and also is starting to connect from mid-range on his jumper which has some arc on it. Runs the floor very well. Uses his length defensively to alter several shots. Mid-major prospect.
Nate Seputis (Lincoln Way East)
Current Ranking: #13
Travel Team: Team RWA
Seputis is a well-built 6’9” center that has great size and strength on the interior. He has the ability to score with his back to the basket and rebounds at a high rate in his area. Face up potential. Mid-major.
Devon House (Sterling Newman)
Current Ranking: #14
Travel Team: Quad City Elite
House is one of the top back to the basket prospects in the state of Illinois in the sophomore class. He has grown to 6’8” and is in much better physical shape than we saw him a year ago. House led his team to the state finals in Peoria this past season. Mid-majors should keep tabs on him this spring.
Sam Schultz (Oswego East)
Current Ranking: #24
Travel Team: HIT
The 6’7” four man has a soft touch around the hoop. Displays excellent footwork when working with his back to the basket. The skilled four passes it out of the post well finding shooters and cutters. Runs the floor like a deer and is an above average athlete. Scores in transition. Low-major.
Martice Mitchell (Bloom)
Current Ranking: #25
Travel Team: Mac Irvin Fire
Mitchell has legit size at 6’9” with long arms. Runs the floor hard and finishes well around the hoop with his athleticism. High points rebounds. Consistency is the key here from one game to the next. Low-major big.
Chris Conway (Naperville Central)
Current Ranking: #26
Travel Team: ET21 Buckeyes
Excellent rebounder that high points the ball at its highest point and outlets it to his guards. Consistently gets on the glass. Has a chance to be an excellent shot blocking and post defender down the road. Still in the developmental stage. Waiting for him to take that next big step. Low-major prospect.
Jordan Kwiecinski & Bennett Kwiecinski (Loyola)
Current Ranking: #27 & #28
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
These Loyola twins are face up four men that have a high skill level. Very intriguing with their ability to handle and shoot it on the perimeter. Both started to come on strong at the end of the spring with the Wolves. Big year for them over the next 12 months. Low-major targets right now with high ceilings.
Yves Nkomba (La Salette Academy)
Current Ranking: #30
Travel Team: KC Pacers
Nkomba attends La Sallette Academy in the central part of the state. The 6’11” has all the physical tools you could ask for with size and superior length. He needs to improve his coordination and speed up his post moves. Purely an upside play at this point. Low-majors should track.
Patrick Readye (Belleville Althoff)
Current Ranking: #31
Travel Team: Brad Beal Elite
Readye is a kid that we are intrigued by with his big physical frame and how he is efficient scoring with his back to the basket. Rebounds well. Not an overly explosive athlete. Low-major player at this stage.
