Weekend Preview: Kentucky/Indiana Junior All-Star Series
This weekend, Trinity High in Louisville and Ben Davis High in Indianapolis will play host to the Kentucky/Indiana Junior All Stars. Kentucky has a loaded roster but their firepower took a big hit when Dontaie Allen and KyKy Tandy headed to California for the Pangos All-American Camp. Coach Boo Brewer of Bardstown is the head coach for the Junior All-Stars. Here’s a look at the Junior Roster:
Dontaie Allen, Pendleton County – The hottest name in recruiting this week will miss the game due to an All American camp in California.
Noah Back, Perry County Central – A knockdown shooter, Back should benefit from the drive and kicks of his teammates.
Brennan Canada, George Rogers Clark – Another good shooter, Canada presents and inside-out threat at 6’7 and as a nearly 40% 3 point shooter.
Isaiah Cozart, Madison Central – An elite level rim protector, Cozart covers up a lot of shortcomings for any team he plays for.
Jordan Graham, George Rogers Clark – Tremendous size for the PG position, Graham is known as a floor general and great on the ball defender.
David Johnson, Trinity – A top 100 player in the class, Johnson is likely to be the best college prospect on the Kentucky roster this weekend.
JJ Kalakon, Waggener – Versatile defender and underrated scorer, Kalakon is the glue guy for every team he’s on.
Dieonte Miles, Walton-Verona – Miles just returned from a 5 month injury and needs to bulk back up but he and Cozart should combine for a formidable front line.
Michael Moreno, Scott County – Moreno is Mr. Dependable. He’s going to get a lot of rebounds and score double figures.
Kyle Rode, Lexington Christian – Rode is a match-up nightmare for any opponent. At 6’7 he can play 1-5 and guard 3-5.
Jamarion Sharp, Hopkinsville – Sharp is long and lean but provides some rim protection.
KyKy Tandy, University Heights – Tandy, like Allen, will miss the game to attend Pangos All-American Camp in California this weekend.
Nick Thelen, Covington Catholic – A bruiser at about 6’6″, Thelen is a potential enforcer on the front line for Team Kentucky.
Rodriguez Thomas, Paducah Tilghman – Thomas is a lights out shooter who shot over 50% from behind the 3 point line in his junior season at Tilghman.
The Kentucky side of the game will be played Saturday at 4 at Trinity High School and the Indiana game is at Ben Davis High School at the same time. Both games will be preceded by the Girls Junior All Star which starts at 2.
