Prospect Profile: Fred Harding (2019 Lake Oswego HS/Team Fly North)
Sometimes all you need is a change of scenery. After starting the AAU circuit with a different squad, Fred Harding decided to make the switch. The muscular 6-foot-7, 225-pound post from Lake Oswego started playing with Team Fly this past weekend at The Hoop Memorial Day Classic and he’s looking forward to the future with his new team.
“AAU has been an experience switching to Team Fly – it’s a different environment,” Harding said. “These guys – they’re a family and it’s great being with them. Coming out of track, I’ve been trying to find my game and they’ve been helping me with that. I’m getting there.”
If there’s one thing that stands out about Harding it’s his physical stature as he’s definitely well built with a long wingspan. But what makes him effective is the fact he’s not afraid to get physical down low. He certainly did that at the tournament, helping to provide a physical presence inside for Team Fly. “The most aggressive ones, the people that want it the most, they get it,” he said.
Harding noted that his recruitment is still in the early stages as he really hasn’t gotten anything except for a few letters here and there. He’s hopeful that a big summer with Team Fly will result in some options. “I’d love a full ride,” Harding said. “I’d like a winning program and I’m looking somewhere more out of state, maybe like Arizona. This summer I’m just looking at getting seen and potentially get an offer.”
Harding currently ranks as the #39 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
