Prospect Introduction: Ronnail Tape (2021)
Lehigh has been a sound program for quite some time.
One of the emerging athletes at the school is 2021 forward Ronnail Tape. The 6’4″, 190-pounder is the half brother of former Lehigh, IMG and Oak Ridge star forward and soon to be LSU freshman Emmitt Williams.
Tape says having Williams on his side is very beneficial.
“I’ve learned that I can’t stop. I have to keep going for what I want to succeed in and work for it. He has also taught me to never be scared just because players are bigger older and stronger than me,” Tape told Prep Hoops. “Off the court, he constantly motivates me to always make the right choices and keep on working if I want to make it to college.”
As a freshman, Tape spent his time with the JV team.
“My confidence grew as my coach allowed me to dribble more and shoot the ball on the outside also as he played me over the upperclassmen as a starter,” he said. “As I started to try and dunk the ball in practice it gave me more confidence in the paint when I had to play against bigger players.”
This travel season, Tape is running with High Hoops. It is his second year with the AAU program.
“I’ve learned how to communicate with the other big on the floor on offense and run some off ball plays,” Tape said.
No offers or interest have come yet for the rising sophomore. He pointed to his rebounding, inside scoring, blocking and shooting touch from outside as his biggest strengths. Tape also alluded to his athleticism and ability to be a great teammate as other strengths.
He wants to improve his shooting percentage, ballhandling and perimeter defense.
Lehigh will be a young team this upcoming fall, but it always seems to pair together athletes and win games regardless. Look for Tape to make his presence known as a sophomore and it could be a quick impact with his size and strength.
