10 Under the Radar 2019 Guards in Triad
In this section we take a look at some of the under-the-radar guards in the Triad area of North Carolina.
Brycen Thomas6’3, guard Chaz Gwynn (Winston-Salem Prep)-A threat to score from anywhere on the floor; athletic, with a good frame; has the ability to get hot from beyond the arc.
6’3, guard Ty Everhart (South Iredell HS)-A double-double machine; he can get position on the low block; has a soft touch around the basket; strong defender.
6’4, guard Noah Dunn (Greensboro Day)-Good size at the shooting guard position; One of the most improved players in the state, he is driving it and finishing impressively. His drives are strong ones and he often finishes at the rim with a dunk, or an “and-one”. He’s also a very good mid-range shooter and an excellent defender.
5’9, guard Hayden Blohm (West Iredell HS)-Close to a double-double machine this season; Blohm averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds; gets good position down low but is a little undersized at the next level for his position.
6’3, guard Cliff Harris (Calvary Day School)-Another solid player/prospect that can score the ball but brings effort on the defensive end of the floor. He does a good job of moving without the ball and picking his spot, getting his own offense within the flow of the team offense.
6’2, shooting guard Johnny Pagano (Bishop-McGuiness)-Combo guard who leads the offense effectively, can score at will. Excellent 3 point shooter. Bulldog mentality who will never shy away from the competition. Should have a breakout summer in his second season on the 17U circuit.
6’0, combo guard Austin Inge (Greensboro Day)-is a good three point shooter who can make defenders pay if they close out late or double down in the post.
6’1, guard Nicholas Cheeley (Eastern Guilford HS)-Very strong defender; able to lockdown on D; good scorer; tough mentally; aggressive.
6’2, guard Brycen Thomas (High Point Christian)-a skilled guard that can score from almost anywhere on the floor, consistently making shots from the three-point line to mid-range jump-shot.
6’1, guard Nick Brown (Westchester Country Day)-Scoring mentality; athletic guard that can get to the basket at will; high flying guard; plays above the rim; can shoot it off the dribble or create his own shot
