KC Classic: Most underrated
LAWRENCE, Kan. — The final day of the Kansas City Classic in Lawrence, Kan. on Sunday featured several players putting together solid performances. Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several players who raised their profile at the event.
0 — Alton Easley, 5’10, G, 2020, Turner (Kan.), Primetime Ballerz
Easley came off the bench for Primetime against the KC Magic on Friday and went straight to work, scoring seven early points. He showed he can rebound, knock down perimeter shots and pressured the ball defensively while helping handle the ball in the backcourt.
2 — Savian Edwards, 5’10, PG, 2019, Washburn Rural (Kan.), SSA Elite Black
Edwards continues to shine at the defensive end of the floor where he puts pressure on the ball and forces turnovers and causes opposing guards to make mistakes with the ball. He is terrific in the open floor, able to attack the basket and finish in traffic and brings a high level of intensity to the floor.
45 — Jeremone Jackson, 5’10, G, 2019, Grandview Christian (Mo.), KC Magic
Jackson showed he can put it in the basket in a variety of ways. He leaked out in transition and got several early lay-ups on Friday in a loss to Primetime Ballerz and showed he can knock down outside shots as well.
24 — Keenan Miller, 6’5, G/F, 2019, Wichita South (Kan.), River City Hoops
Miller is an athletic wing player who can handle the ball, get to the basket and is terrific in transition, able to run the floor and finish. He’s a terrific outside shooter from the 3-point arc and can get to the basket off the dribble as well.
30 — AJ White, 6’4, PF, 2019, Rockhurst (Mo.), KC Spurs Black
White is a strong, powerful interior player who combines strength, power and explosiveness with nimble feet and a well-rounded skill set. He had it all working at times on Friday in a blowout win by the Spurs over River City Hoops, knocking down jumpers, taking the ball coast-to-coast and throwing down an emphatic one-handed slam. He’s one of the more underrated players around due to his versatility.
