Recruiting Report: Lucas Kroft (2019)
The 2019 class is really starting to develop this Spring and many players are finding their groove. Maybe none more through the first two live periods than Fort Wayne North (IN) wing Lucas Kroft. The big wing has been shooting the lights out of the ball and colleges have been really stepping up and showing their interest.
Through the first two live periods of the year, Kroft has been a standout with 1Nation 2019 as a scoring wing and high energy guy. His perimeter jumper caught first and he’s hitting a lot in a row and really producing at a high level. When you add that to his big frame, a lot of those local mid and low major programs started to take notice.
To date, Kroft has offers from Youngstown State, Holy Cross, UW-Milwaukee, Ball State, Indiana State, Lipscomb, and New Hampshire. Pair that with schools like Ohio, Rice, IPFW, Duquesne, and Loyola (IL) and you have covered most of the heavy hitters at those Low and Mid Major levels in the Midwest.
Kroft is a guy that is going to give schools a big wing who not only can shoot, but he has the ability to really play defensively on guards and wings. He’s a little aggressive and while he can overplay at times, better to reel him back in than the opposite. Along with that, his slashing ability has shown itself on the UAA circuit which has been the secondary scoring aspect of his game. If he can really get that going by the end of the summer, that could help boost his stock even more.
He has already taken visits to Holy Cross, Loyola, and Duquesne but says he plans to visit Ohio, Rice, and IPFW over the coming weeks and months. Expectations are this list could grow if he has a repeat performance this July when they travel around the country the final three weeks of the live periods.
