At that moment Kirkwood’s name began floating around the circles of college coaches and then this spring and summer playing with Net Gain Kirkwood was watched regularly.
One of the schools following close was Cal State Fullerton. The school continued to follow up with Landon after the summer and last night Landon committed to their program.
“I want to thank all the schools that recruited me through this long process but I have decided to commit to Cal State Fullerton,” Kirkwood said.
“I wouldn’t be in this position without my family and friends and you know who you are. Thank you for being there when nobody was. Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into me. I wouldn’t be here without you guys.
“Thank you to all the coaches who pushed in me and believed in me to get to this point. Brooklyn Center was the beginning but now I can push forward and continue my dreams. I couldn’t be more excited to be a Titan in California.”
Landon is happy to have this decision out of the way so he can relax the rest of his senior year (in terms of thinking about the future).
“Its a lot of pressure relieved off my shoulders. But feels great,” Kirkwood told NHR. “I’m just waiting to get out this cold weather! Haha, but I’m going to miss it here.”
Landon is very excited to be headed to Deadrique Taylor’s team which won nine games last year but is looking to Minnesota for talent (they are also bringing in Riley Dearring for a visit this weekend).
“They came around after (Grassroots) season and has been in contact and built a relationship with me like no other. And I think their program is something I am looking for and will be accepted. I also see they’re in a rebuilding process and I’m excited to go and help.”
Kirkwood is in the middle of a high school season where his team is 2-2. Landon is putting up 14.2 points per game along with Davonta Prince (17 a game), Dashawn Pickford, and Lu-Cye Patterson (an 8th grader) all scoring double figures each night.
