2019 Dajour Rucker talks high school season and his commitment to Marshall
The 2017 TCIS player of the year, Dajour Rucker, decided to end his recruiting process early and give a verbal commitment to Marshall earlier this spring. Rucker is a rising senior and goes to Cape Henry Collegiate, in Virginia Beach. Rucker is a good shooter and has recently showed that he can start taking players off the dribble more and more. He is also a good facilitator as he can pass well for a man with his size. His footwork is improving which has helped him become a better defender. He spoke on the Virginia Beach powerhouse’s season.
“Our high school season did not go as planned but we fought and played our national schedule like we usually do. We played against a lot of good teams and we fought hard every game. We beat some good teams but also lost to some good teams. I am pretty sure every one on the radar knows who Cape Henry is.”
The rising senior told us why he decided to end his recruitment this spring and choose Marshall.
“I chose Marshall because I think it was just the best situation for me and my family. It is close to home and they have a good reputation of putting players into the NBA and that is my dream. I do not just want to be a good player, I want to be a great player. Even though I had other offers to other conferences, at the end of the day I thought Marshall and the Conference USA was the best fit for me.”
Rucker is looking forward to the system Marshall has planned for him, “Coach D’Antoni and Coach Cline run an NBA type system, they have a spread offense like a 3 and D type of team so you know I can go in there and showcase my talent with offensive skillset and defensive skillset because they know what I can do and I know what I can do and I don’t think there are too many people out there that can stop me.”
Rucker mentioned how he is really looking forward to getting to campus and has a message for the Marshall fans, “They can expect me to be a player that will fight and expect a player that will ride with them from the beginning to the end and they are going to have a dog in me. They are going to have somebody that does not care about any other team, any other player except for the players on my team.”
