Prospect Update: Emir Carter (2018)
After finishing his high school career at Dr. King Charter School, 6-foot-2 guard Emir Carter will play the next two seasons at Southeastern Baptist College in Mississippi.
There’s two things the senior prospect liked about the JuCo: it’s close to home, and they offered early.
“It just felt like right to me, it was good fit for me. It’s like an hour and a half from where I live and I liked that,” said Carter.
SBC offered Carter back in December, and stayed persistent in pursuing him.
“I was the second kid they offered this past season, and they made me a priority, so I made my decision based around that,” said Carter.
The JuCo program located in Laurel, MS. A town of of just under 19,000 people, it will be a stark contrast from New Orleans. Carter’s embracing the small-town opportunity. “I heard it’s a historic city,” he said.
While there, Carter will work to sharpen his guard skills and get stronger to better prepare himself what what might come after.
“I’m trying to use these two years to get better. I’m going to try and get stronger, and I’ve got to get quicker. In college you got to be quick,” Carter said.
“I’m looking forward to it, just enjoying the opportunity to do something that a lot of people don’t get to do.”
