Lubarsky Showing Out
In this article:
With a deft, left handed stroke and a cerebral scoring ability, Ben Lubarsky authored arguably the best junior season in all of Palm Beach County during the 2017-18 campaign.
He averaged 25.3 points and 8.3 boards throughout, despite playing the latter half of the season with a nagging injury.
Lubarsky upped his status on the recruiting market this week, earning an offer from newly-minted head coach Michael Fly and Florida Gulf Coast.
Though known primarily for his shooting and floor-spreading ability in dialing in from way, way, way, beyond the arc, Lubarsky solidified his status as an all around scoring threat this season.
He was able to incorporate a nifty pull-up game and feathery stepback jumper into his arsenal while simultaneously becoming more of a penetrator.
His deft, long-range stroke really opens up the defense and he’s improved at a frantic rate with his high-low passing game. He’ll inherit some ownership of Benjamin’s program as a senior. Both player and coaching staff want it that way.
At 6-foot-5 and 212 pounds, he’s got the ability to barrel through smaller guards. At the same time, he takes forwards away from the rim with his outside shooting. Lubarsky looked particularly adept on the drive, tearing into the teeth of the defense and finishing. He’s become a guy who can embrace contact and go at rim protectors with nary a tinge of hesitance.
While he still needs to a better motor, he’s got the complete guard skill-set. This has enabled him to earn offers from Radford, Stetson, and several others. Some on the Division-I coaching circles expressed concern about his position and his body, indicating he could potential be a tweener at the Division-I level.
Lubarsky’s recent play and tightened, refined handle have put most of those whispers of worry to immediate rest.
Anticipate a bigger summer for the big bodied Class of 2019 prospect, who eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone back on December 19, 2017.
Here’s a look at some recent action from recently signed and still remaining guys…
Dante Moses recently penned his NJCAA letter of intent with Palm Beach State, where head coach Martin McCann is loading up on local talent. Moses is an electrifying finisher who averaged 19.0 points this past season at Inlet Grove, calling his own number and scoring during critical sequences.
Phillip Lyttle, a versatile guard out of Forest Hill, earned a partial scholarship at Palm Beach State. The multi-positional defender averaged 15 points and 8.2 boards this past season.
Lamont Sanders, SCS
It’s hard to argue Sanders has the tool-set and big shot making ability to play at the Division-I level. A tough, Baltimore bred guard, Sanders was a major spark off the bench for former DME Academy coach Chris Chaney’s national team at Scotland Campus this season.
At 5-foot-10, he may not past the eye test. It’s hard to ignore how much emphasis is placed on little measurements and the impact they make at the ensuing level. Built like a cornerback and sound in all elements of his game, Sanders will land somewhere soon.
Tanner Eubank, Kalamazoo CC
The former Elev8 Prep guard averaged 14 points, six boards and five assists at the JUCO level this past season.
A gym rat with a knack for pull up jumpers and straight-away 3-pointers, he’s got the skill set and mental fortitude to offer immediate contributions at a four-year program next year.
The legendary Michigan schoolboy talent scored 1,400+ points during his illustrious career at Paw Paw.
