Prospect Update: Noah Hart (2019)
Waukee junior Noah Hart embraces challenge, and as the defensive-stopper for the Barnstormers, he’s had plenty of them come his way.
Earlier this spring, the Iowa Barnstormers guard came face-to-face with recent Kentucky commit, Ashton Hagans from GAme Elite, the nation’s ninth-ranked player. Hart held him so single digits scoring, and only one field goal that game.
“Playing against a bunch of the adidas guys and Nike guys, I always guard the other team’s best guy, which has been fun. When we play these guys we always hear , ‘oh, he’s got an offer here and there,’ and it makes us really excited to play them.”
A 6-foot-3 combo-guard, Hart was eager and ready for Hagans.
“When I heard that (I would be guarding him), my first thought was that I want to shut that kid down,” said Hart. “Defense, ya, I always get excited to defend a good guy.”
Offensively, he’s been refining his jumper, especially the pull-up, which he says is much-improved. He gets the opportunity to work on that from two different approaches; as a point guard with Waukee, and an off-guard with the Barnstormers.
“My game has really jumped, and my pull-up jumper has really improved and that’s helped me. And creating space is another thing I’ve been able to do for myself. And for Waukee, playing point guard, ball-handling has improved a lot,” said Hart.
“I’ve worked on my off-ball shooting quite a bit, with the 3, and then defending. I think defending is one of my biggest aspects of the game, it gets me going on the offensive end.”
RECRUITING
Things are starting to take shape recruitment-wise for the heady combo-guard. He’s received three offers up to this point, and several other schools seem on the verge.
Hart’s got a D1 offer from Air Force, a Division II offer from Truman State, and NAIA William Penn was the first to offer earlier this spring.
Navy, South Dakota, Drake, U-NO, North Dakota, Wayne State , Rockhurst and Northwest Missouri State have all reached out.
Hart’s new teammate, Tucker DeVries (who will be a sophomore at Waukee next season), is the son of new Drake coach, Darian DeVries. So, there are some natural ties there to the Bulldogs. Hart mentioned South Dakota as a program that’s been hot on his trail, and could see them as maybe the next to extend an offer.
Noah Hart is ranked by Prep Hoops as a top 15 prospect in his class.
