Prep Hoops Series : Charlotte Aces Win Platinum Bracket
The Prep Hoops Series 3 was played this past weekend in Myrtle Beach, SC at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. The Charlotte Aces took home the championship in the 17U Bracket Platinum Bracket.
The Charlotte Aces finished the weekend at (4-0) under Head Coach Kevin Ligons. The Aces were without the services of Stephen Edoka, Cheick Traore and DayJuwan Cooke. Edoka earlier this week committed to UNC-Asheville for next season.
Here is a look at some of the members of the Charlotte Aces roster. The Aces play on the Under Armour Association (UAA) Circuit.
Myles Hunter – North Mecklenburg HS (pictured on front)
Hunter 6’5 is a rangy small forward who can really handle the ball well in transition. Hunter told Prep Hoops along with Coach Ligons that he could possibly reclassify next season. Hunter can score the ball at all 3 levels on the floor. Hunter seemed very comfortable with his mid-range game.
Felix Cue – Victory Christian Center
Cue 6’8 really absorbs contact on both ends of the floor. Cue a physical looking specimen runs the floor very well and is very vocal with teammates. Cue tends to leave his feet a lot on the defensive end and challenges shots very well. Cue will look to manufactures a lot of his points off put-backs on the glass.
Brett Swilling – United Faith Christian
Swilling 6’6 plans on attending Roanoke College (VA) in the fall.
Kenny Gwynn – Carmel Christian
Gwynn was solid all weekend long for the Aces. Gwynn 6’3 played off the ball in the games we took in with the Aces. Gwynn started off his career at Northwest Cabarrus HS.
Tim Smith – Concord First Assembly
Smith 6’6 was a mover-screener for the Aces. Smith has a good a nose for the ball and a blue collar attitude.
