Class of 2020 Rankings Update: Biggest Risers
The class of 2020 rankings were updated this week. Who were the biggest risers in the state of Wisconsin?
14. Carter Gilmore (Phenom University/Arrowhead)
Previous – 30
Gilmore started the travel season with the Wisconsin Shooters, but has since ventured over to Phenom University. A fundamentally sound, 6-foot-7 forward, Gilmore’s blend of toughness and finesse around the rim makes him a handful. He’s also a problem away from the basket as
well, using his shooting ability to pull bigs away from the paint and space the floor. Gilmore picked up a Division 1 offer from DePaul recently and should continue to trend upward in these rankings.
17. Anthony Washington (Wisconsin Swing/Madison East)
Previous – 44
Washington had a strong start to the spring and stayed consistent throughout. The 6-foot-4 wing is a dynamic two-way player capable of shifting the momentum on both ends of the floor. Whether it’s using his length to generate a key stop, chasing down blocks, or finishing above the rim in transition, Washington can create a highlight in a variety of ways. Making him even more intriguing, Washington is emerging as an isolation scorer, able to blow by defenders to the rack or pull-up off the bounce from 3-point range.
18. Jalwan Farrell (Racine Park)
Previous – 46
Playing with a loaded Phenom University squad, Farrell carved out a good role. A strong, fast guard that can penetrate, Farrell puts his head down and finishes well against contact. Also a standout defender, Farrell has the build and athleticism to shut off drives to the rim and pick up for 90 feet if needed. It appears Farrell could be on the move to another AAU club after reporting offers from DePaul and South Dakota State this spring.
29. Keonte Jones (Wisconsin Swing/Madison East)
Previous – 54
Defense was the calling card and largely responsible for Jones’ rise in the rankings. Going up against some big names in the Midwest, Jones didn’t back down from the challenge and usually made the stars work for everything they got. Intriguing because of his versatility on the wing, Jones can serve as an extra ball handler or slasher. He also sees the floor and is an unselfish playmaker for his teammates.
31. Isaiah Stewart (Wisconsin Dynasty/Madison LaFollette)
Previous – 53
We’re rewarding Stewart’s consistency as the primary scorer for Wisconsin Dynasty. With LaFollette, Stewart’s chances to shine don’t always come often, playing alongside Donneil Gray and Troy Reeves. Getting a chance to be “the guy,” Stewart often made 20-point performances the norm, while leading Wisconsin Dynasty to some deep runs this spring.
Others: Declan Ciurlik (Homestead), Will Fuhrmann (Reedsburg), Jayquon Owens (Hortonville), Reed Gunnink (Laconia), Carson Smith (Sussex Hamilton), Ben Emler (Columbus), Jackson Noll (Cuba City)
