Recruiting Report: Talton Jones (2019)
On a Trinity Christian loaded with 2019 talent, Talton Jones was a reliable contributor.
This summer for Flight 22 Elite, the 6’3″, 175-pounder is the No. 1 option and pure scorer for his group. He helped Trinity Christian go 25-6 and win the Class 1A NCISAA title. Alongside Joey Baker (recently announced 2018 Duke commit) Au’diese Toney, Greg Gantt and Keith Marshall, Jones played a purpose averaging 8.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
“My junior year at Trinity was amazing,” Jones told Prep Hoops. “I just felt like my confidence wasn’t as high as it is now. Also, I feel like my leadership is coming to me more as in making better decisions an being more vocal.”
With Baker reclassing and moving onto Duke earlier than anticipated, Jones will be vital to the Crusaders success.
In his first year with Flight 22 Elite, Jones says it is going well so far and he’s already become a better leader.
Western Carolina and Fayetteville State represent his two offers while Mercer, Campbell, USC Upstate, UNC Charlotte, VCU and Longwood have all expressed interest.
Playing a top role this summer will keep his confidence and up and alongside the deep group of rising seniors at Trinity Christian, there will be plenty to go around next season.
He pointed to biggest strengths his ability to play both ends of the floor and his defense. Jones wants to continue to get quicker and improve his footwork.
Jones is a determined player who doesn’t back down from the competition. I saw it firsthand at the Big Shots Myrtle Beach event last month. He loves to drive and create contact and when he isn’t playing offense, he makes life tough on opposing players with his energy and ability to guard in your face.
