Recruiting Report: Noah Applegate (2019)
At this stage of the Spring, getting offers is the obvious goal but for those DII/NAIA/DIII programs, the are a little more hesitant and early on they really focus on their top targets. So, for 2019 forward Noah Applegate to pick up four offers early is a big deal.
The 6’6 forward has been playing outstanding this AAU season so far as he is showing off a different skill set. More of a face-up forward early on, Noah has been much more of a perimeter shooter and doing it fairly well. He’s pretty comfortable handling the ball on the perimeter and has shown an ability to not only hit off the catch, but make some plays to be able to get some space.
He’s a pretty good rebounder and can really work in the post on the offensive end as well. He’s best when he’s also slashing and cutting to the rim and using his body to finish with toughness. However, that addition of perimeter shooting has many colleges taking a new look at his game.
To date, Applegate has four offers from Goshen College, Bethel, Saint Francis (IN), and Hillsdale. With that, though, he’s also pulled in early interest from Davenport, Chicago, Army, Air Force, Lafayette, Citadel, Loyola (IL), and Western Illinois. He fits many different roles at the next level and with small ball four becoming the trendy role this offseason, he fits best as that and that is why you can see the wide array of interest.
Coming up, Applegate will head to Loyola (IL) in June for a visit but expect a round of visits to those offered schools as well. Will be interesting to see who else pulls the trigger as he continues to shoot it from distance at a high rate this summer.
