Continue ReadingBroad Ripple (4-4) came into the game with the chance to get a nice winning streak going. They got their win and a 3-game stretch of wins over Indianapolis Northwest, Indianapolis Howe, and now Greenfield-Central. They did their damage getting to the free throw line, especially in the second half while Greenfield-Central (4-1) had a tough time hitting from three. Tate Hall and Isaiah Banks both had big games for their teams but Broad Ripple going 18/25 from the free throw line was the difference-maker.
Broad Ripple:
Isaiah Banks
6’4 – SF – 2016
Banks is a long, skinny wing player who showed some talent in this game. He shot the ball well from deep going 3/3 from behind the arc. He was solid on the boards using his length to get a touch on the ball. Lacks strength but the frame is wiry and once he gets some added pounds he could make an even bigger impact. Not a great athlete but good enough. – 16 points, 5 rebounds
Patrick Wilburn
6’4 – SF – 2016
Wilburn was Broad Ripple’s do-it-all guy. He is well-built and uses that in the paint fairly well. Gets good position and can fight to get tough boards. Drew a lot of fouls in this game as he controlled the paint. He didn’t have a shot from the field but went 5/6 from the free throw line. – 5 points, 5 rebounds
Sam Colbert
6’0 – PG – 2017
Colbert looked the part of a solid, low level point guard prospect. He was the guy that led Broad Ripple last night. Decent handles and can create a bit on the perimeter. His bread and butter was driving to the free throw line and making a play. Was able to get there and make a couple nice passes but shot it really well using a floater and then toughness to get the rest of the way to the hoop. -14 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists
Kevin Hackett
5’8 – PG – 2016
Hackett, a tranfer from Fishers, was solid at times during the game. Has good speed but lacks size. He’s a guy that gets his points in transition when he can beat his man down the court. Tough for his size but has trouble creating space on the perimeter. – 8 points, 1 rebound
Greenfield-Central:
Blake Robertson
6’3 – SG – 2016
Robertson is a thin two-guard with some upside down the road. He was impactful on the offensive end as he was able to get some shots in the mid-range. With Hall the focus, Blake was able to drive from the arc and get into some better looks in the 10-15′ range. He’s got to add strength but his skill is solid and he’s got good size. A guy that can fit in a lot of DIII/NAIA programs. -11 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists
Tate Hall
6’6 – SF – 2016
Hall had a struggle to start the game but got going in the second quarter. He’s still playing as that do-it-all guy instead of the straight-up shooter he started off as. He had trouble driving against BR’s tough, scrappy guards and when he put it on the floor he turned it over. However, he looked better creating his shot in the 15-22′ range. He needed to take over the game more down the stretch when Greenfield needed a bucket but gave them quite a bit in this one. -16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist
Kirill Schoellman
6’2 – SF – 2016
Kirill is such an interesting prospect. He doesn’t have the size that is coveted but at 6’2 he can be a guard if you need him to be or a low-post forward if you need that too. He’s got enough toughness to defend down low and handles the ball adequately on the perimeter. Probably better as a post defender right now where he can play as strong as he wants. -11 points, 5 rebounds
Will O’Connor
6’5 – SF – 2018
O’Connor is a name to watch in the next couple years as he develops into his body. Has a good feel for the game but he’s skinny and it holds him back from making a lot of plays. A decent jumper shooter, he falls into those plays more but he wants to drive and play closer to the basket. Has good handles for his size and what he projects to be, a long rangy perimeter forward. – 4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist
