Jayhawk Invitational: Top Stock Risers
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.— Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who raised their profile at last weekend’s Jayhawk Invitational in Kansas City.
Joshua Earley, 6’7, PF/C, 2019, Bishop Miege, KC Run GMC
Few players across the region have seen their stock rise quite like Earley who has added numerous offers in recent weeks, including Kent State, Northern Kentucky, Indiana State, Tulsa, Bradley and East Carolina. He is a strong, powerful athlete who runs the floor exceptionally well, defends and rebounds at a high level.
Tyon Grant Foster, 6’5, G/F, 2019, Link Prep, KC Team Rush
Opened the competition in the Friday nightcap with a thunderous one-handed slam. He’s a skilled wing player with terrific size, length and athleticism. Grant Foster showed the ability to play on the perimeter where he is comfortable handling the ball and shooting the 3, but can also help defend the paint and rebound.
Darrius Hughes, 6’5, F, 2019, Rockhurst, KC Team Rush
Hughes recently picked up his first offer from Abilene Christian and showed why this weekend as he combines a good all-around skill set with a strong, physical frame. Hughes plays much bigger than his listed 6’5 height as he is a physical presence in the paint, but skilled enough to handle the ball on the perimeter. He is a player who has shot up the recruiting boards over the past year and has a game that is still growing.
Trey Quartlebaum, 6’2, PG, 2019, Lawrence, KC Run GMC
Picked up his first offer from NCAA Division I Texas Arlington after his performance last weekend. Known for his steady play and high basketball IQ, Quartlebaum is a developing scorer with a nice pull-up jumper and the athleticism to get to the bucket and finish in traffic.
Shawn Warrior, 6’5, F, 2020, Wichita Southeast, KS Pray N Play
Warrior is exactly that, a tough, hard-nosed warrior on the court who does what it takes for his team to win. He did a lot of his damage in the paint as a rebounder and finishing around the basket, but also showed the ability to handle the ball, shoot the 3 and was effective in the pick-and-roll game making himself available and finishing tough chances.
