Prospect Spotlight: Isaiah Barnes (2021)
Isaiah Barnes is a very intriguing prospect in the 2021 class with his long, athletic, and rangy build. He struggles finishing at the rim at times, but looks so smooth getting there with effortless handles. He had his moments passing. Shoots a good ball from deep, but is inconsistent knocking it down. Should be on D1 radar. Transferring to OPRF from Romeoville for his sophomore season he tells us.
He talked about how his freshman year did go at Romeoville.
“I think it went alright. Not exactly as I wanted too. Make the best out of it and play hard. Good freshman year.”
Where did he make the biggest strides in the last year since his grammar ball days?
“I improved on my ball handling and being more aggressive. On my jump shot my mechanics have improved.”
Playing against a high level of competition for the Illinois Wolves 15U has been great for Barnes.
“It is going really good. We have only lost a few games. I realized that they are stronger and quicker. You have to adapt to that real quick or you are in trouble.”
What are the best parts of his game at this stage of his development?
“My strengths are getting my teammates open, ball handling, slashing, and my jump shot.”
