Intro: Micah Schnyders (2020)
Micah Schnyders put himself on our radar with his play during the second half of the spring with the Mac Irvin Fire 16U. The Chicago Christian 6’1” 2020 shooting guard lit it up from beyond the three point line. His go to is letting it fly off the catch. He spots up and is ready to shoot. A bit of a long release. He has a nice shot fake and that he can drive his defender when they close too hard on him. Worth monitoring by D2 schools.
He chatted with PHI about his sophomore campaign.
“We had an up and down year as a team. We ended up like 15-10. I ran the show at the point and scored in double digits. It was a real good experience for me so next year we are trying to lead the team downstate. I am putting in all kinds of work this summer and working with some college guys this summer.”
What are the strengths of his game at this stage?
“I can really shoot the ball. People usually figure that out right away. A lot of things that people don’t know especially playing on a team like the Fire is I don’t need to handle the ball with this team a lot. I definitely can though. I take a lot of pride in handling the ball. I don’t just score beyond the arc. I can attack the rim. I think that is one thing I want coaches to know. I have been in the weight room over the off season. I have gotten a lot stronger.”
This tough and competitive gym rat is definitely someone to continue to track!
