Run-N-Slam: Mason’s 2021 Top Performers
The last major event of the spring is done and Run-N-Slam provided us with a ton of looks at prospects in and outside the state of Indiana. With teams coming from all over the Midwest and giving us a good mix of EYBL, UAA, Adidas Gauntlet, and some of the top non-shoe sponsored teams in the country, we got some high level competition in the first weekend in May. Here is our look at my Top Performers in the 2021 class from the past weekend.
Khristian Lander | 6’1 PG | EG10 2021 | Evansville Reitz (IN)
Lander was slicing through the lane and scoring as well as dishing it off to open teammates. He was really effective driving and dishing the ball. Lander was able to contribute to the game without scoring a ton of points. Not a bad game from the high potential sophomore.
Noah Carter | 5’10 PG | Indiana Faith 2021 | Bishop Chatard (IN)
Carter is a kid with very good handles. He is in control of the ball and is able to break his man down off the bounce. Carter has great court vision and finds the open man. Could stand to use a little more offense but was able to score a little bit in this one.
Jalen Blackmon | 5’11 PG | Indy Heat 2021 | Marion (IN)
Blackmon is a high impact scorer who really gets after it on the offensive end. He will take a lot of shots but most of them will fall leading to some huge scoring outputs. Blackmon is one of the top Indiana prospects in the 2021 class and is very quick up and down the floor with the ball.
Trevor Taylor | 6’2 SG | EG10 2021 | Edgewood (IN)
Taylor keeps getting better every time I see him. He was able to get to the rim effectively and made some really nice cuts to the basket. You can see the potential that he has when he plays with how high his IQ is on the floor. He is a strong guard who is able to do a ton of stuff with the ball.
Armahn Hillman | 6’2 SG | Indiana Faith 2021 | Scecina Memorial (IN)
Hillman was a guy who I hadn’t seen before and he really impressed me with his ability to take the ball down the floor and score at the other end. He’s a built guard who uses his body pretty well to score and make plays. Solid defender too.
Thomas Kurowski | 6’3 SG | Heyward Hoops 2021 | Sturgis (MI)
Kurowski is a thin guard with the ability to get to the basket and score. He looks a little out of control at times but is pretty effective at beating his man to the basket and scoring the ball. Kurowski is a guy who needs to tighten up his handles a little and once he does could become really god driving the ball. Didn’t show much of a catch and shoot game when I saw him.
Chrishawn Christmas | 6’5 SF | EG10 2021 | Gary West (IN)
Christmas is an uber athletic wing who can play above the rim. He threw one dunk down on a kid and ended with 10 points, most of which were right at the rim. He really impressed me on the defensive end as well as he was able to lock down his man too.
Luke Goode | 6’5 SF | Indy Heat 2021 | Homestead (IN)
Goode may have been the most impressive player that I saw all weekend. He scored inside and out and had two huge putback dunks. A guy who is bouncy and very versatile. Needs to work on his lateral quickness a bit but he can score the ball well. Rebounds from the wing very well for his size.
Blake Sisley | 6’7 PF | EG10 2021 | Heritage Hills (IN)
Sisley showed me that he is a true offensive threat in about a minute of game play. He had a series where he pump faked and spun for the easy basket, then went coast-to-coast for a lay in. He is a strong forward who has the skills to be a very solid stretch four man who can handle it a little bit as well.
Caleb Furst |6’8 PF | Indy Heat 2021 | Blackhawk Christian (IN)
Furst is a big man wired to score the ball. Long and very in control of his body. He is very aggressive on offense even at this stage of his game. Has handles in the lane that you can rely on him getting to the rim from the high post. A very high ceiling player who is so advanced for his age. One of the better players in Indiana.
