Recruiting Report: Roosevelt Wheeler (2021)
John Marshall/Team Loaded VA 15U big man, Roosevelt Wheeler is a post player, who’s stock is quickly beginning to rise in a 2021 class, that is already stacked with talent. Starring alongside his “twin tower,” Efton Reid, his presence in the post makes it nearly impossible to come through the lane, snagging rebounds and blocking shots. At 6’10, Wheeler protects one of the most elite 15U squads in the country. Right now, the Team Loaded VA 15U squad is an impressive 16-0, including a 8-0 Gauntlet record. We sat down with Roosevelt after his state championship winning season at John Marshall, and again, after the first live period, & here’s what he had to say.
- How was it not only being young, but new to the John Marshall team this past season?
“It was fun getting to know everybody, and getting adjusted. This team, this team was great.” - Your name is beginning to get a lot of buzz, how is that feeling, being a freshman, coming off a state championship, and beginning to get recognition?
“It feels good, you know I didn’t expect it, to be honest, but my coaches always said it was gonna happen one day, so I just had to prepare for it.” - Roosevelt, as well as others, has seen his game begin to evolve as well, here’s what he thinks he has personally improved within his skill set.
“I can see that my rebounding, boxing out, and ability to make better decisions on the court have all improved.” - At the end of the John Marshall season, I asked Roosevelt what was his goal(s) for the summer
“To win every game, every, single game.”
Wheeler currently hold two Division 1 offers, Hampton & Old Dominion University. With an undefeated record thus far, Wheeler shows no signs of straying away from the goal he set before the season. PrepHoopsVA has not currently done it’s 2021 rankings, but expect Wheeler to be among the best of the best.
