Recruiting Report: Tyrese Jenkins (2020)
Reigning 5A State Player of the Year Tyrese Jenkins will reclassify into the 2020 class, per sources. The 6-foot-7 wing recently spoke with Prep Hoops about his decision.
“I’m 2019 right now, but planning to re-class this coming school year to 2020,” Jenkins said in a recent interview. “Trinity Episcopal is the only school I’ve applied to so far.”
Radford, UNCG, Quinnipiac, and Lafayette are reportedly among the schools currently recruiting Jenkins the hardest. His versatility, ability to play inside and out, defend multiple positions, and handle the ball are probably his best qualities.
“All the schools recruiting me know I’m planning to reclassify,” Jenkins stated. “I’m working on getting my shot more consistent from deep & getting quicker and stronger.”
Penn State recently offered Jenkins, who has been a standout this spring with 16U Team Loaded VA, which was not unexpected after he led Varina to the state title in March. What can he bring to a college program down the road?
“Hard work, dedication, leadership, persistence.”
Tyrese Jenkins is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-40 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Virginia’s 2019 class, click here.
