Prospect Profile: Stevie Schlabach (2019 Tigard HS/Team Fly North)
The past two winters, Stevie Schlabach has proven himself on the high school hardwood. Now the sweet-shooting 6-foot-4, 190-pound wing wants to make a name for himself on the grassroots circuit. The rising Tigard High School senior has been suiting up for Team Fly North this spring and so far it’s been going the way he has hoped.
“We’ve been playing really well as a team,” Schlabach said. “My shooting has been a strong part of my game, and I’ve been getting to the rim. I’ve been working on my ball-handling and I’ve gotten a lot stronger so I can get by people.”
Schlabach is one of the top perimeter shooters in the state, but has also impressed with his all-around play and overall feel for the game. He has a solid frame and is working on improving his overall athleticism.
His hope is that all the improvements will catch the eyes of colleges. So far he’s talked with Portland and Portland State and plans on attending their elite camps. He’s also been in contact with other smaller schools, most notably George Fox.
Like most all rising seniors, Schlabach is aiming high when it comes to college but he wants to go where he can be a contributor. “I definitely want what’s the best fit for me,” Schlabach said. “I would love to play at the highest level that I can, but it has to be the right fit for me with their system.”
Schlabach currently ranks #5 overall in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
