Prospect Profile: Aaron Deloney (2019 Grant HS/Rose City Rebels)
Grant High School’s Aaron Deloney has been on a heck of a run over the last two months. First the electric 2019 guard led his Generals to the Oregon class 6A state title, defeating cross town rival Jefferson in an epic championship game. That was followed by being named 1st team all state by several media outlets including The Oregonian and Prep Hoops Oregon. As he moved on to the aau spring circuit, he showed off his rapidly improving game in Dallas with his Rose City Rebels squad in front of a slew of big name college coaches such as Tom Izzo and Coach K. Throughout this stretch, he also picked up his first four D1 offers, starting with Portland State before adding Eastern Washington, Cal Baptist, and Northern Colorado recently.
We caught up with Deloney to break down his EYBL aau experience so far and see what he has planned for the upcoming summer months.
“Despite not winning a ton, the EYBL experience has been a positive one. Playing against the best guys in the country will only make me better.” When asked about his recruiting and his current offers, he commented “I’m thankful for the confidence that those coaches have shown me so far. In addition to the four schools who have offered me, I’ve also been hearing from TCU, Kansas Statte, San Diego, UMASS, and Marquette. Right now I’m looking for a college that really wants me and has taken the time to build a relationship with me. Also looking to go somewhere that has an offense that will match up well with my skills.” This summer, I’m going to continue to work hard on my game and in the weight room, focusing on getting stronger and more explosive so that I can match up with bigger and stronger players.”
Prep Hoops Evaluation:
Aaron Deloney is a 2019 point guard who plays for Grant HS and the Rose City Rebels on the Nike EYBL circuit. “AD” has shown tremendous improvement going from a nice player as a sophomore to a dominant one by the end of his junior year. He currently holds four D1 offers and would expect him to end up with double digit offers. He is a score first point guard who excels in the open court and pick and roll game. He has also shown the ability to get into the paint & create scoring opportunities for his teammates. He must continue to get bigger and stronger and continue to improve in his ability to guard elite perimeter players.
