2020 Montverde G Joe Bamisile talks sophomore year, recruitment and more
Part of a team filled with Division I prospects, Joe Bamisile sat back and learned a ton this season.
The 6’3″ guard played for the Geico National champion Montverde program under head coach Kevin Boyle and his staff and alongside guards RJ Barrett (Duke), Andrew Nembhard (Florida) and Michael Devoe (Georgia Tech) and more.
On Barrett: “I learned to play hard and always show what you can do.”
On Nembhard: “I learned to control the game.”
On Devoe: “I learned to play with pace and pick your spots.”
“Everyone was good, so it made me push myself as hard I could which made me get better. This year, also humbled me a lot, kept me to the point where I knew there’s no level to getting better,” Bamisile told Prep Hoops Florida. “Also, it taught me to take one day at a time from seeing how others players progressed.”
Offers on the table for Bamisile currently are from VCU, Old Dominion and Richmond. He’s also generated interest from Michigan, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, UF, Middle Tennessee State, UNF and NC State.
He says colleges view him as a bigger point guard who has a mature scoring ability and a ton of length.
Bamisile started to play for Team Parsons this summer. He says he’s learned how to play with other guards and be effective sharing minutes.
He pointed to his biggest strength as his ability to score from any level. He wants to continue to work on playing with constant energy and his all-around muscle.
Currently No. 9 in our 2020 prospect rankings, Bamisile is a rising talent who came down from Virginia to play at Montverde. If you google his name, various mixtapes from his middle school days and early high school days will come up. Regardless, the hype is real and Bamisile is going to get his chance this upcoming season for the nationally ranked Eagles.
