EYBL Indy: Michigan Flavor
The state of Michigan was well represented in EYBL Indy. There were impressive performances in this session by players who currently reside in the state as well as a player who is originally from Michigan. Let’s take a look at honors handed out by EYBL for the Indy session:
EYBL 2ND TEAM:
Rocket Watts (2019, CG, The Family)
Watts has established himself as an elite player nationally. He helped The Family to a 2-2 record. Watts averaged 21.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.0apg, and 2.3spg. As impressive as the numbers were, the leadership role that Watts took was even more impressive. The Family moved up most of its 16u team for the EYBL Indy event. Watts was the seasoned veteran of the roster, and he embraced that role. His weekend was highlighted by a 35 point performance against Mac Irvin Fire.
EYBL HONORABLE MENTION:
Romeo Weems (2019, SF, Meanstreets)
Weems was his typical self in Indianapolis. He simply contributed in every way possible. Weems averaged 11ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.8apg, 2.8spg, and 3.3bpg. He once again proved to be one of the most versatile and well rounded players in the country.
Terry Armstrong (2019, SF, Nike Phamily)
The Native Michigander is an elite level basketball talent. He averaged 20.8ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.5apg, and 1.3spg. Armstrong was magnificent in Indy. He showed his versatility and continues to improve and expand his game.
EYBL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SERIES:
Romeo Weems (2019, SF, Meanstreets)
Weems was special defensively in Indy. He blocked 14 shots and had 11 steals in 4 games. Weems was inpresssive in his ability to defend multiple positions. He showed the ability to defend elite frontcourt players as well as guard on the perimeter.
EYBL ALL BREAKOUT TEAM:
Terry Armstrong (2019, SF, Nike Phamily)
Armstrong has made big strides in his game. He looks much improved on the offensive end especially. In Indy, Armstrong looked smooth and confident, and his numbers backed this up.
