Super Team Showcase Saturday Standouts
BOWIE, MD — Some good talent was on display this weekend at the DMVelite Super Team Showcase. It’s time to take a look back at what we saw. Here we recap the two-day event with a closer look at ten standouts from Saturday.
’22 NOAH BACHELOR | 15U MID ATLANTIC SELECT
We didn’t find out until after he dominated the 8am game set on Saturday that Noah Bachelor is still just an eighth grader. He shot it well from the perimeter, knocking down four threes on his way to a game-high 20 points. Bachelor is reportedly expected to attend St. Maria Goretti next year.
’21 MALCOLM DREAD | 15U TEAM TAKEOVER
Malcolm Dread had the top play of the day when he slammed home a put back dunk against DC Premier. The versatile wing, who scored a game-high 15 points, defended very well and played with a high motor.
’18 SAVION GALLION | 17U DISTRICT BASKETBALL CLUB
Arguably the best pure scorer we saw all weekend, Savion Gallion was dialed in from beyond the arc, both off the dribble and from the catch. Any scholarship level programs looking for a scoring guard in 2018 would be wise to recruit him.
’21 JAMES GROSS JR. | 15U DC PREMIER
James Gross Jr. is a flat out explosive athlete, and we saw that athleticism on full display last weekend. The promising guard, who scored 12 points against Team Takeover, rebounded it well from his position.
’19 JORDAN HAIRSTON | 17U NEW WORLD
It seemed like every time something good happened for New World in their game against The District, Jordan Hairston had something to do with it. The reliable lead guard’s stock is trending up after receiving his first division one offer from Boston University.
’21 SAVEON JACKSON | 15U NEW WORLD
Saveon Jackson was responsible for one of the most efficient individual single game performances we saw all weekend, scoring 30 points and connecting on 18 of 21 free throw attempts. The broad shouldered guard, who attends St. John’s, has a bright future ahead.
’21 KINO LILLY JR. | 15U DC PREMIER
One of the top shot makers we saw all weekend was Kino Lilly Jr. of Landon School. Not only can he knock down shots consistently from the perimeter, but he is also adept at scoring from various angles inside the arc.
’22 WILLIE RIVERA JR. | 14U TAKEOVER OLADIPO
Willie Rivera Jr. dominated the game we saw him play on Saturday, but especially stood out with how he took control of the game in the second half. The skilled combo guard, who will attend DeMatha in the fall, has good size and a quick first step.
’19 KYLE ROSE | 17U DISTRICT BASKETBALL CLUB
One of the biggest stock boosters of the spring, Kyle Rose did a bit of everything in his team’s win over New Word, recording 20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. The 6-foot-4+ lefty can handle it, knock down shots from the perimeter with consistency, but also defends multiple positions and showed that he can rebound out of his area.
’19 CAMERON SAVAGE | 17U DISTRICT BASKETBALL CLUB
Cameron Savage made whatever play his team needed in order to secure a win vs. New World on Saturday night. The heady floor general defended well, set up his teammates, and scored the most important bucket to win the game in sudden death overtime.
