Live Period II: 2019 PF Standouts
The second live period has come to a close and coaches are back at the respective schools, we are back at home, and prospects are fielding calls from those interested in them from their play. Today, we take a look back and see who played well and who some new names are from this weekend. This is a breakdown of the best power forwards that I saw on the weekend from the Spring Classic and UA Midwest Showcase.
Vincent Miszkiewicz | 6’6 PF | Big 3 Basketball | South Elgin (IL)
Miszkiewicz really impressed with how he played. He had a high motor and was rebounding everything. He has the handles to push the ball up the floor and get to the rim. He finished really well and was able to get into the lane. Was elevating and throwing down dunks. A stretch four with some edge to his game.
Zach Rinehart | 6’7 PF | Indiana Elite Fastbreak | Avon (IN)
Zinehart struggled in this one scoring the ball. He was rebounding the ball well but he didn’t look like he was all there this morning. A guy who is functional as a low post scorer and player. In the game against Big 3, he struggled to keep up with the athleticism of the other team, this is something he needs to work on throughout the summer. He can put up points when he is on though.
Noah Applegate | 6’6 PF | Indiana GAME | Penn (IN)
Applegate came out aggressive in this one and stayed aggressive through the entire game. He was rebounding the ball and pushing it. Applegate was scoring a ton of points and threw down a few dunks. He was hitting deep threes and playing tough. Was the best I have seen him play. A really solid player for a D2 team.
Christopher Karsatos | 6’9 PF | NOVA Village | Upper Arlington (OH)
Karsatos is a guy who is just like Wight, but a little less skilled. He loves to patrol the three point line and look for threes. He has a bit of ball handling but it best on that catch-and-shoot in the corner. A solid NAIA player who needs some muscle.
Nate Childress | 6’7 PF | Indiana Elite Metro | Zionsville (IN)
Childress rally impressed me with the way that he scored his points today. He was hitting jumpers much more consistently and got to the rim. He is a menace on the defensive end with the way that he tracks down shots to block. A really high level athlete who needs his shooting to stay for him to climb up the ranks of recruiting.
Matthew Dove | 6’9 PF | DistinXion Red | Princeton (IN)
Dove is a very mobile forward who has the ability to stretch it out a little bit. A solid rebounder and he has great touch around the rim. Blocked a ton of shots and didn’t let anyone get anything at the rim. Dove is a solid finisher with a couple different post moves to go to.
Samuel DeVault | 6’9 PF | G3 Grind | Evansville Memorial (IN)
DeVault looked really good in this game shooting the ball. That was really the only way that he was able to score though. DeVault loves to play on the wing, somewhere he will have to be less as he makes the jump to college. Active rebounder and willing passer. He needs to find more ways to score the ball though.
