Live Period II: 2019 Standouts Pt. I
The second live period has come to a close and coaches are back at the respective schools, we are back at home, and prospects are fielding calls from those interested in them from their play. Today, we take a look back and see who played well and who some new names are from this weekend. This is our breakdown of the players we saw standout this weekend. These are our top 2019 prospects from the Spring Classic, Nike Midwest Takeover, and UA Midwest Showcase
Paxon Bartley – 6’3 / SG / 2019 / Wood Memorial (IN) / DistinXion 2019 Red
Bartley is a tall scoring guard who looked pretty solid when he was looking to drive. He’s solid going to his right hand and has a little more athleticism and quickness than you would think. Played a lot more physical and was trying to draw more contact at the rim. Like his scoring ability at the rim and beyond the arc. If that mid-range game comes into play, he could bump up a level.
Spencer Corrona – 5’11 / PG / 2019 / Vincennes Lincoln (IN) / DistinXion 2019 Red
Corrona looks much improved from a year ago. Taller, more physically well built and the handles are pretty solid right now. Shoots the lights out of the ball and so good as a rhythm shooter in transition. With the body now much more ready to go, will be interested to see him attack the rim more and see how that goes. Could become one of the better guards in southern Indiana.
Jadon Dance – 5’11 / PG / 2019 / Fort Wayne Concordia (IN) / Indiana Faith 2019 Black
Jadon is a solid guard prospect with some shooting ability and strength. Not a big guard but strong and has some ball handling ability. Should stay on the point and be able to get some offense as a guy whose good off the catch and with a little creation ability. Didn’t get to see a ton of driving but handles and size should be enough for him to produce.
Connor Jones – 6’3 / SG / 2019 / Danville (IN) / Indiana Faith 2019
Jones is a big guard who can really shoot the ball. He’s really big but mobile and tough and defensively he gives you some flexibility as you can put him on 1-3 at the right level. Really good off the catch as a shooter and has shown the ability to drive some. Needs a little more driving ability but he fills a role perfectly for a small school program.
Christian Kincer – 6’4 / SG / 2019 / Indianapolis Lighthouse South (IN) / Indiana Faith 2019 Black
Kincer is a tall guard with a lean frame and he shot the ball pretty well. Release is a little wonky but repeatable and he hits for a good percentage. Handles the ball pretty well and showed a little more ability to attack the rim. Will need to add in that dynamic a bit more but handles should allow him to help as an on-ball guard.
Allen Plunkett – 6’5 / SF / 2019 / South Putnam (IN) / Indiana Faith 2019
Plunkett is a big wing who has shown his jumper to improve over the last year. Much more of an interior threat as he rebounds really well, drives and slashes to the rim using his big frame. Best asset is his rebounding ability as he can score off of them and beat out taller defenders with his strength and athleticism. Will need to hone in on his shooting ability more but has some upside if he does.
Frankie Davidson – 6’5 / SF / 2019 / Blackhawk Christian (IN) / Indy Heat 2019 Red
Frankie is a tall wing with really high-end athleticism and scoring ability. Showed a good jumper from distance and was creative around the rim using that length and athleticism. Needs strength and will have to pick up the foot speed but has all the tools on the offensive end to really impact the game. When he gets hot, he puts up a ton of points with efficiency.
David Ejah – 6’5 / SF / 2019 / Fort Wayne Carroll (IN) / Indy Heat 2019 Red
Ejah is a big, long wing that has improved a ton in the last year. Jumper is much more reliable and he has good strength to play down low as well. That ability to mix and match inside and out makes him extremely valuable. Really like his length and how he can use it defensively and on the boards. Good upside still to tap in to.
Andrew Owens – 6’5 / SF / 2019 / Carmel (IN) / Indy Heat 2019 Red
Owens is playing as good as he ever has. Big wing that has his jumper working for him. He’s really shooting the ball well now and he can put up points in bunches. Always a good energy/effort player who impacts the game even if his scoring isn’t there. Now that his shooting has taken a step forward, he’s going to have quite a bit of upside as his confidence grows.
