It was often ugly, and shots weren’t falling for either team most of the night, but DC-G slugged out its second straight win over a quality opponent Friday night at home against Norwalk.
It was 7-6 after the first quarter, and Norwalk could have had more turnovers than points by halftime when they trailed 18-11.
In the second half DC-G’s rangy forward Grant Shivvers and shooting guard Doug Heritage took control of the game, and it was back-to-back triples by Heritage that gave the Mustangs a commanding 12 point lead early in the fourth quarter.
With less than a minute to play, Shivvers smashed home a dunk to give the Mustangs 10 point lead. He was the MVP of the game, and it’s fitting that his highlight-reel play iced the win for his team.
