Ranked and Ready: Class of 2019 Pt. 2
With the April live period coming to an end, many AAU programs from across Southwest Ohio are making the trek back from various tournaments across the country. And with that comes the opportunity for a player to make a name for himself. Here are some ranked players that we believe, starting this weekend, will become household names across the state and beyond. Today we talk about the forwards and centers.
Abba Lawal/C/All-Ohio Red (Nike EYBL)/PHO #11- One of the top shot blockers and rebounders in his class, Lawal development offensively and body-wise will be key to his recruitment this summer. Currently with offers from Miami (OH), Cleveland St., Akron and Toledo, Abba has the athleticism to be a high-major recruit.
Tremaine Smith/F/RGB Ohio Unity/PHO #57- A new entry in this year’s rankings, Smith is somewhat of an unknown even in hometown of Cincinnati. But he has the size (6’8) and athleticism to change that narrative. While only playing in half of Aiken’s regular season games, Tremaine had four double-digit rebounding games and averaged 8.2 rebounds per game during the season.
Bryan Warah/F/Ohio Ballstars/PHO #129- Bryan is just starting to scratch the surface of how good he could be. He had a very solid season for Purcell Marian averaging 8.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game (5th in the GCL Co-Ed). And his ability to finish with both hands and in traffic was on full display against Shroder in December when put season-high numbers of 31-points and 14-rebounds. During that game Warah also shot 13-14 from the free throw line.
