PTP Combine: Standouts Part I
2018 Nathan Johnson, Waukee, 6’6 SG: Setting himself apart with his versatility, the athletic and savvy sophomore was scoring in a variety of ways from all over the court. He’ll be a key contributor to one of 4A’s strongest programs this season.
2017 Matt Dentlinger, Kuemper, 6’8 PF: What stands out most about the big-man is his ability to knock down the 3-ball. If left open he will bury it, and he has the size to get the shot off whenever he wants. He also swatted 3.4 shots per game last season as a sophomore.
2016 Kyle Beisch, Fort Dodge, 6’3 SG: The best player I saw at the Combine. He was a do-it-all on both ends of the floor, and is a highly skilled shooter with deep range. Beisch should be an all-state performer for the Dodgers this season, and is currently under-recruited.
2016 David Wedewer, Dubuque Wahlert, 6′ PG: He’s added height and weight, and now pairs that with his innate savvy and skill. He was navigating lanes to perfection and will be a consummate point guard for 3A’s most talented team.
2016 Jareese Williams Jr, Mason City, 6’2 SG: The lengthy guard was as disruptive and active as any player I saw on the defensive end. He was aggressive on offense, and showed an ability to get to the hoop and knock down the deep ball.
2017 Tyler Voves, Linn-Mar, 6′ PG: A lethal shooter, Voves was hitting everything he put up and looked good doing it. A smooth and skilled stroke set him apart last weekend, and his ball-handling and general point guard skills are not to be overlooked.
2017 Drew Maschoff, Ankeny, 6’3 PG: One of the state’s best kept secrets until this past offseason, Maschoff was flashing his elite shooting, knocking in mid-range and deep-balls with ease. His ball-handling, passing, and vision were top-notch; what we’ve come to expect from the Division I prospect.
2017 Charlie Crowley, Valley, 6’7 PF: His footwork in the paint is exquisite, and he uses it to free himself for easy buckets around the rim. With a little more work he could be star for Valley over the next two seasons.
2018 Sam Ingoli, Dowling Catholic, 6’4 PG: The most physically imposing player at the Combine, Ingoli tested very well and that was to be expected. He has one Division I offer from North Dakota, and should start on a loaded Dowling squad this season as sophomore.
2016 Devon Belk, Camanche, 6’3 SF: A great build and plus-athleticism set him apart last weekend. He flashed great speed and was strong with the ball. Belk has a good feel for the game, and handles it well for a small forward.
